Made in 3 days for the Winter MelonJam 2023!

A Lonely Grasshopper and a Charming Potion

A grasshopper was lonely and asked a witch to help him find love. The witch gave him a potion of charming. The witch instructed grasshopper to only use it once per day, but because of the lack of immediate effect, the grasshopper neglected the precautions of the witch, and used way more that that. All the insects in the forest immediately started chasing the grasshopper. And so, the grasshopper has to run away and find the witch to ask for help once again!

The art is great here, and I think the game feels a lot more polished than a lot of the other entries. The Jump-King inspired gameplay was plenty fun but the game is frustratingly hard for me. It could be a skill issue though, maybe the game is meant to be that hard.

All in all, great submission, nice work!

The main lesson I learned is that for the next jams I should dedicate time for the play-testing. For me it was easy, so I was actually afraid that the game will be too easy. If we had play-tested the game and realized that the game is too hard I would implement optional checkpoints. Feel kinda bad that I actually did a shitty job at game design and didn't fully realize the potential of the game with such great visuals. But at least I learned the lesson and will do better next time

I love the art style and the gameplay feels very polished, it's definitely one of my favorite games in the jam.

Thank you for playing. The artist definitely clutched this one, huge props to her

tough but really fun

Thanks! If the swarm is too much pressure there are difficulty settings!
